Roller Skating

In South London, a vibrant community of young roller skaters is rising — passionate, creative, and seeking spaces to skate safely. But with limited access to dedicated rinks, many are left using car parks and open spaces, often misunderstood or pushed aside. Skating has been a powerful outlet for these young people — keeping them active, away from harmful environments, and giving them a sense of freedom, connection, and expression.

One of the most iconic spaces, Vauxhall’s historic skating spot, once served as a home for generations — until it was closed due to concerns around behaviour from a newer wave of skaters. But this is not the full story. Without proper investment, structure, or a designated space to grow, young skaters are being displaced instead of empowered, this is what some of THEM had to say about it

At JRAW, we’re committed to advocating alongside these young people, working with Lambeth Council and wider partners such as Watch My Wheels, to support their vision for a safe, structured roller skating space in South London — a place to move, build community, and call home.
